A new version of Cygnet - 4.0.10 - has been deployed to all Cygnet 4 installations. This update includes the following improvements and fixes:

creating new documents (and specifically their version folder) no longer requires extend folder rights
passwords are stored/updated as SHA1 crypt instead of legacy DES, removing the effective 8 character limit
improved browser compatibility for clipboard
improved contacts and infohub filters in EMS
new toolbar in document preview tab (saves screen estate)
list of document locations/links in document preview
icons for Microsoft Office 2007 documents and OpenOffice documents
several minor changes that have been requested of us

Cygnet ECM was awarded the : ECM Product of the year 2009

This year Cygnet ECM released a new product delivering yet again a comprehensive package of document, records, email and content management tools that are specially optimised for use in SME environments, Cygnet 4.0. Not only has this been a great success within the Benelux but it was also voted Content Management Product of the Year - Enterprise at the 2009 Document Management awards.

More than 300 guests attended this year’s DM awards ceremony which recognises the achievements and standards set by software and hardware suppliers who are at the forefront of the document and content management market. The awards, voted by readers of Document Manager Magazine, End-Users of the systems and a experienced panel of judges were presented by DM Event Manager, Liam Norval. Cygnet ECM took home the award but the compettition was tough from companies including Laserfiche, Easy Software and Xerox, to take the sought-after Enterprise Content Management award.

Cygnet ECM was awarded the : ECM Product of the year 2008

A way to show appreciation to the people who help develop and design a product is to present them with an award.

This is exactly what happened at the 2008 Document Management Awards. Cygnet ECM brought home the Content Management - Enterprise product of the year 2008.

Cygnet's journey began in 1999. A group of astute professionals running a Corporate Management business calculated that up to 40% of every employees time is lost searching for information. In a typical SME employing 200 people, as many as 80 people can spend all day, every day, looking for files and information. That represents a massive, unacceptable loss of productivity and income.

The search for a solution began. Few delivered effective information and process management functionality for SMEs; most were priced beyond the reach of all but the large multi-nationals.

An in-house development initiative was launched and Cygnet ECM was born. The business professionals at the heart of this initiative implemented Cygnet ECM throughout their own SME business. They benefited greatly from the use of a digital archive, which was accessible 24/7 by all employees, customers and suppliers, regardless of their location.

The product evolved and word spread. Cygnet began helping other SMEs with paper-intensive processes and geographically dispersed operations to manage information and day-to-day processes more effectively. So the adventure began, and today Cygnet ECM is used by more than 150 companies in 20 countries around the world.
